About.
Aakash Rajan is a music composer and producer based between Mumbai and Chennai. His work brings Indian musical instinct into contemporary film and production, including music featured in Aravind SA’s global stand-up special, “We Need To Talk.”
His biggest work to date is Tanishk Bagchi’s “So Lene De,” which he produced and which has crossed 21 million views on YouTube. His proudest credit, however, is his work as an engineer on an album by Purbayan Chatterjee, where he shares the record’s credits with Michael League, Jordan Rudess, the late Ustad Zakir Hussain, Shankar Mahadevan, the late Ustad Rashid Khan, Béla Fleck, Gary Husband and more. His other credits include work with Anirudh Ravichander, Karthik, Benny Dayal, Vandana Srinivasan, Aruna Sairam and Bombay Jayashree.
His latest releases, “Kaarmegham” and “Piya Bina,” the latter a collaboration with Maahi Zaveri, are both released through Merchant Records, the label founded by Salim and Sulaiman Merchant. His album Zindaginama Vol. 1 forms the opening chapter of a four-album body of work, while “Mudhal Variye,” his collaboration with Anjana Padmanabhan, has crossed 120,000 organic streams.
Beyond music, he is drawn to film, storytelling and technology. The throughline is simple: emotional truth, clarity and work that stays with people.
